Courtnay Foster Named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Junior Courtnay Foster (Tucson, Ariz./Sahuaro) has been named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week for the sixth time in her career after posting a 2-1 record with one save in helping Northwestern to a 4-1 mark at the Palm Springs Classic.
Foster opened the tournament with a 13-strikeout, three-hit shutout of No. 23/25 Long Beach State, then tossed a scoreless inning in relief that night to earn a save in the Wildcats' 3-2 victory over No. 12 Washington.
She also earned a win against No. 20 Pacific in the tournament's finale, pitching six scoreless innings of relief and striking out 10 batters. Her performances against LBSU and the Tigers were her third and fourth double-digit strikeout efforts of the season.
Foster currently has a 5-2 record with a 1.41 ERA, 73 strikeouts and a .137 average against. She is averaging 10.29 K's per seven innings pitched.
