EVANSTON, Ill. -- Sophomore Mike Alexandrov (Champaign, Ill./Centennial) has been named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for his efforts Friday in NU's 171-131 dual meet victory over Iowa.

Alexandrov broke two pool records and won three events in the meet. He touched first in an NCAA provisional time of 3:50.23 in the 400-yard individual medley and cruised to a win in the 200-yard breaststroke with an "A" cut time, 1:57.06, both of which were pool records.

Alexandrov claimed his third title of the day after winning the 500-yard freestyle in 4:35.57.

The accolade is the second of the season for Alexandrov and the second of his career.
