Carmody Inks Three to National Letters of Intent

EVANSTON, Ill.-- Northwestern University men's basketball head coach Bill Carmody today announced the signing of three student-athletes to NCAA National Letters of Intent. The trio of Kevin Coble (Phoenix, Ariz./Scottsdale Christian Academy), Jeremy Nash (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and Jeff Ryan (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) all will don the purple and white beginning next season.

High School:
Scored 2,346 points in his high school career at Scottsdale Christian Academy and averaged 26.9 ppg his senior season, both school records ... Averaged 12.1 rebounds his senior season and grabbed 1,201 over his career ... Shot 87.8 percent (137-156) from the free throw line his senior season ... Scored 44 points in one game and had 22 rebounds in another ... Shot 58.9 percent from the field over his career ... A Nike All-America selection in 2005 and a Nike "Top 100" player in 2004 ... Led the Eagles to a 64-3 record and back-to-back state titles in 2003-04 and 2004-05 ... Named to the Arizona State All-Tournament team three straight years ... A three-time Arizona Republic and Tribune all-state selection ... Also a three-time Arizona Republic Small-School Player of the Year ... Was voted team MVP by his teammates all four years ... Led his team to the 2004 Cactus Jam Christmas Tournament championship where he was named tournament MVP ... A four-time all-region selection ... Led his team to the 2003 ARC National Championship and the 14 and under title in 2002 ... As a junior, Coble averaged 19.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 1.5 assists per game ... Shot 64.7 percent from the floor and 79.8 percent from the free-throw line ... Was listed as a small forward to watch following the Nike All-American Camp in Indianapolis ... Member of the Kingwood Classic All-Star Team ... Has sound fundamentals and possesses excellent shooting range ... Played AAU ball against fellow recruit Jeremy Nash ... Personal: Born Kevin Randolph Coble on Nov. 9, 1987 in Greensboro, N.C. ... Son of Randy and Carlys Coble ... National Honor Society member ... honor student with a 4.0 grade-point-average ... Was heavily involved throughout the community, volunteering at several charitable organizations and functions such as the Hurricane Katrina and Rita relief project for the Salvation Army ... Plans to major in economics.

Averaged 16.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.1 steals as a senior at Marist High School ... Finished as Marist's third all-time leading scorer (1,241 points) and also is third on the all-time assists list with 314 ... Is only the fourth player in Marist history to play varsity basketball all four years ... A two-time Class AA all-state selection in 2005 and 2006 and Southtown all-area selection those same years ... Also a three-time East Suburban Catholic all-conference choice ... Led the RedHawks to a 70-16 record in his three full seasons on the varsity squad (Marist was 17-60 the three years prior) ... Marist won its 20th game for the third year in a row, marking first time in school history that the boys' basketball team has won 20 games in a season three straight years ... A member of the Ferrari 2006 AAU 17 and Under National Championship team ... Ranked in the top 20 in the latest ChicagoHoops.com top prospects in Illinois ... Joins fellow Chicagoland commit Jeff Ryan on the top 20 list ... As a junior at Marist, Nash averaged 14.2 points, 6.8 rebounds and three assists in helping the RedHawks to a 25-4 mark and their second-straight regional championship ... Averaged 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds as a sophomore in helping Marist to their first of back-to-back Class AA regional titles ... Was called up to varsity halfway through his freshman season and averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds ... Finished his career ranked fourth on Glenbrook South's all-time scoring list and is the fifth player in school history to score over 1,000 points ... Was a special mention Chicago Sun Times all-state selection and honorable mention Associated Press all-state selection ... Named to the IBCA all-state second team ... A two-time all-Central Suburban League choice and South Division Player of the Year ... Member of the 2006 City Suburban All-Star Team ... Led his team to the CSL South Conference championship in 2004-05 ... Ranked No. 14 in the latest ChicagoHoops.com top prospects in Illinois ... Listed as the No. 1 small forward and the No. 10 player overall in the state by ChicagoHoops.com ... Carmody on Ryan: "Jeff does everything pretty well. His ball handling and passing will enable him to be a guard who, at 6-7, should pose match-up problems for opposing teams. He is a good long-range shooter who possesses the quickness and strength to aggressively attack the basket. His versatility makes him a great fit for our program."
