TUCSON, Ariz. -- Despite leading both Arizona and Washington after Day One of a double-dual meet in Tucson, Ariz., No. 14 Northwestern fell to the No. 5 Wildcats, 176-165, while still handily defeating the Huskies, 253-79.
Sophomore Matt Grevers captured a pair of events for NU, winning both the 100 Back (48.94) and the 50 Free (20.10). He also finished second in the 200 Free (1:38.76), being outtouched by just .08 seconds.
The Northwestern relay of Kyle Bubolz, Matt Wever, David Kormushoff and Grevers also registered a first place finish in the 400 Free Relay with a time of 2:58.44.
Collecting a pair of second-place finishes for NU was Brian Davis in the 200 Fly (1:54.59) and the 200 IM (1:53.40).
Northwestern returns to action at 5 p.m. Friday at No. 8 Michigan.
