EVANSTON, Ill. - Brittany Oliveira was recently named an assistant coach for the Northwestern women's soccer program. Oliveira replaces Chuck Codd, who left to take a coaching job with the Chicago Sockers club program.

Oliveira is making her college coaching debut this season with the Wildcats. She arrives in Evanston fresh off a standout four-year career at Stanford University, where she earned All-Pac 10 honors and helped the Cardinal to four NCAA Tournament appearances. One of her coaches at Stanford was Stephanie Erickson, whom she joins as an assistant on the Wildcat staff.

"I am so pleased to add Brittany to our staff," said NU head coach Jenny Haigh. "She had a tremendous collegiate experience as a player in one of the top programs in the country, and that experience will make her a great asset to our staff. Her understanding of the game, her passion, and her enthusiasim will be a wonderful fit. She is ready to switch gears and enter the coaching realm, and we feel very lucky to have her abilities in our program."

Oliveira appeared in 84 matches during her career on "The Farm," making 33 starts (including a career-high 21 as a sophomore). She scored 12 goals and 10 assists during her tenure.

Oliveira got off to a fast start in her career, finishing third on the Cardinal with 16 points as a freshman including a goal and an assist in Stanford's first-round NCAA Tournament win. As a junior, she scored Stanford's match-winner against Santa Clara. Senior year, she recorded four tallies and earned honorable mention All-Pac 10 honors.
