EVANSTON, Ill. - Associate volleyball head coach Josh Grau will resign his position on June 15, head coach Keylor Chan announced this week. Grau, who will receive a master's degree from Northwestern in Integrated Marketing Communications on June 19, will pursue opportunities outside of coaching.

"Josh has been a fixture at Northwestern for the past four years," said Chan. "His talents have helped our program achieve many firsts, and we will miss him as he pursues other avenues in his life. Josh will always be a part of what we have created at Northwestern. I wish him the very best in the future, and want to thank him for all he has done for us."

Grau, who was named associate head coach in 2003 after three years as Chan's top assistant, served as the recruiting coordinator for the Wildcats. He also assisted in practice and game coaching, opponent scouting, the 30/30 Club booster organization and NU Volleyball Camps.

"I've really enjoyed my time here at Northwestern and am very proud to have been part of rebuilding the volleyball program," said Grau. "During my time I was also fortunate to continue my education at Northwestern, and that has opened some doors for me in the business world. While I'm excited for the change, I will certainly miss Northwestern."

The Wildcats, who have qualified for the NCAA tournament in each of the past two years, have benefited tremendously with Grau on staff. While at Northwestern, he was instrumental in recruiting seven high-school All-Americans, six Prepvolleyball.com Hot 100/Senior Ace selections and four Fab 50 selections. Prepvolleyball.com recently ranked the 2004 recruiting class No. 20 nationally.

"I've been lucky to recruit and coach such gifted athletes, and Keylor and the administration have given me some great opportunities along the way," said Grau. "I'm excited for the future of the program under Keylor's leadership and I thank him for the amazing opportunity. I'm also grateful to Mark Murphy and the administration for their support, and think that the athletic department is on its way to great success under Mark's leadership."
