EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern University's athletic department has announced kickoff times for its four nonconference games for the upcoming football season.

In response to student and fan feedback, Northwestern will push the start times of its two home nonconference contests -- versus Arizona State on Sept. 11 and versus Kansas on Sept. 18 -- back to 1 p.m. In recent years the Wildcats have started their nonconference home games at either 11 a.m. or noon.

"We want to give our fans an opportunity to come to Ryan Field and enjoy the many aspects of our gameday experience, especially Wildcat Alley," said Mark Murphy, NU's director of athletics. "By moving the kickoff time back a few hours, we believe our fans, especially those who travel from areas other than Evanston or the city of Chicago, can enjoy more than just the game."

Northwestern opens the season Sept. 2 at TCU, playing an 8:30 p.m CDT game that will be televised by either ESPN or ESPN2. The Wildcats close the 2004 season in Honolulu, playing the University of Hawaii at 10 p.m. Chicago (CST) time (6 p.m. in Hawaii).

The start times for Northwestern's eight Big Ten Conference games will be announced during the season, likely 12 days prior to the game date.

Kickoff times for all Northwestern games are subject to change at any time.
