Spring Drills Begin March 30 for Wildcats

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Coming off a .500 regular-season and a trip to the Motor City Bowl, the 2004 Wildcats begin spring drills at 4 p.m. this Tuesday, March 30. Northwestern will conduct 15 spring practices, which includes the annual spring game. The spring game, presented by Yellow Book USA, is slated for a noon kickoff on Saturday, April 24 at Ryan Field (weather permitting).
"We're excited to put the pads on again," says head coach Randy Walker. "Our players had a productive winter in the weight room, and now it's time for the next phase of the off-season -- spring ball.
"With so many returning players, we'll be working with various aspects of our game, especially our passing offense. To compete and be successful in the Big Ten, you must have a balanced offensive attack."
Northwestern returns 18 starters, including 10 on defense.
