TEMPE, Ariz. - Either Arizona State is being too good of a host or Northwestern is just not being a very polite guest. The Wildcats came from behind again to beat the host Sun Devils 9-2 on day two of the Arizona State Triangular after scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in last night's come-from-behind 6-5 win.

"I was pleased to see our team come from behind again to beat a good Arizona State team," said head coach Kate Drohan. "We showed a lot of pride coming back after the loss to Kansas."

Courtnay Foster gave the 'Cats another excellent outing, allowing seven hits and only two runs. Neither run was earned and only one of the hits cost the Wildcats any runs. For the third consecutive game, NU fell behind in the first inning. Phelan Wright hit a two-run homer to give the Sun Devils a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the inning.

Northwestern evened the score at two apiece in the bottom of the second inning when After a double by Eryn Manahan, Jamie Dotson drove Garland Cooper home to cut the lead to 2-1. An RBI single by J.C. Kira scored Manahan and the score was knotted at 2-2.

From there, Foster took over. She finished the game with five strikeouts, but kept the Sun Devils from putting anyone in scoring position for the final four innings.

Sheila McCorkle hit her second homerun of the day with a leadoff blast over the left field fence to give the 'Cats a 3-2 lead. Manahan drove in two runs with a single and Northwestern suddenly found itself with a 5-2 lead.

McCorkle drove in another run in the Northwestern half of the fourth inning and Carri Leto had an RBI sacrifice fly that scored freshman Katie Logan. Junior Erin Mobley hit a line drive single and McCorkle scored to extend the NU lead to 8-2. Mobley hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth to cap Northwestern's offensive performance.

The Wildcats will face Kansas at 9 a.m. Sunday in their final game of the ASU Triangular.
