Tempke Goes 2-1 In Baylor Intercollegiate Tournament

EVANSTON, Ill. - In his first fall season competition of the year, sophomore Christian Tempke (Wentorf, Germany Gymnasium LohbrUgge) went 2-1 this past weekend in the Baylor Intercollegiate Tournament.

Tempke beat Max Jones of the University of New Mexico in his opening match on Friday afternoon, 6-4, 7-6.

Saturday morning, he followed that win up with another strong performance by defeating Ricardo Almeida of the University of Texas-San Antonio, 6-3, 6-1. With that win, he moved into the round of 16 where he faced Jacob Hernandez of Tulane University, but lost there 6-3, 5-3.

While Tempke was the only member of NU's team playing this past weekend, the entire team will get their first taste of competition in Chattanooga, Tenn. next weekend, Oct. 1 - 3, at the ITA All-American Championships.
