EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern's Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) has been named the National Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com.
Grevers broke eight pool records and was named Co-Swimmer of the Meet at Northwestern's TYR Invitational. He twice broke the 100 backstroke (47.85 and 47.45) mark, was a part of the winning and record-setting 200 and 400 Medley Relays and 400 Free Relay. Grevers' lead-off split (43.41) of the 400 Free Relay also set a pool record, as did his individual 200 IM (1:45.84) and 50 free (19.93). Northwestern won the five-team invitational.
His time in the 200 IM was an automatic qualifying time for the NCAA Championships. For his efforts, Grevers was also named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week.
