EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's attempt to split the season series with No. 2 Minnesota Friday, Oct. 29 fell short as the `Cats fell in three games (17-30, 17-30, 24-30).
Sophomore Julie Purcell (Louisville, Ky./Assumption) led the Wildcats' offense with 11 kills and a .263 hitting percentage. Junior Lizzie Carlson (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) anchored the defense with seven digs.
The `Cats were plagued by inconsistent hitting while the Golden Gophers hit an impressive .351.
Senior setter and co-captain Drew Robertson (Long Beach, Calif./Long Beach Poly) recorded 27 assists and is now only three shy of breaking Liz Renius' all-time school record of 2,743.
Come out and watch her break the record tomorrow as the 'Cats face Iowa at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30.
