EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern senior Tony Swanson has been named Big Ten Swimmer of the Week for the fourth time in his career. Swanson was most recently honored last season as swimmer of the week for the week of Feb. 11.
Swanson posted four first-place finishes, including a pool record and NCAA provisional time, as the Wildcats downed Notre Dame 155-133.
As of January 26, Swanson owned the fifth-fastest time in the nation in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 47.67. This also set a Norris Aquatics Center pool record, eclipsing the previous mark set by NU's Kellan O'Connor.
Swanson won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 49.10. Additionally, the senior was part of two top-finishing relay teams, as the Wildcats swam the 400-yard medley relay in 3:21.12 and the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:05.47.
Swanson and the No. 15 Wildcats look to extend their dual meet win streak to five when they host No. 9 Michigan Sat., January 31st at 2 p.m.
