Northwestern Sinks Notre Dame 155-133

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's men's swimming and diving team ran its dual win streak to four Saturday after defeating Notre Dame 155-133 in its final nonconference dual of the season.
The Wildcats, who went 3-0 last weekend, won both relay events and received strong performances in a number of individual events as well. Senior Mark Hamming had a stellar meet, racking up three first-place finishes. He took first in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:49.55; the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:52.42; and finished off a great meet with a win in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:51.54.
NU's Brian Davis posted two first-place finishes. He won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:39.68 and the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:29.04.
Davis was joined by Tony Swanson, Louis Torres and as two-event winners. Swanson broke the pool record in the 100 butterfly with a 47.67. Former Northwestern standout Kellan O'Connor set the record last year with a time of 48.40. Swanson also claimed first in the 100 backstroke, clocking in at 49.10.
Torres won both the 100 and 200 breaststroke events with times of 57.77 and 2:05.92.
Freshman Matt Grevers, who swam the first leg of the Wildcats' first-place 400 medley relay, took first in the 50 free with a time of 20.26. He finished behind Hamming by less than three-tenths of a second in the 200 IM as well.
Northwestern is back in action Sat., January 31st when they host Michigan at 2 p.m.
