HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Northwestern women's lacrosse team proved to be a spoiler on Colgate's Senior Night, as the Wildcats knocked off the Raiders 10-5.

NU improved to 8-7 overall and guaranteed itself a .500 record in just its second season back as a varsity program.

Jenny Bush, Erin Flynn and Laura Glassanos had two goals apiece to pace a balanced attack for the 'Cats, who had seven different goalscorers. Junior Angela McMahon had two assists on the night.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead quickly in the first half, as Flynn (at 2:14) and her twin sister Courtney Flynn (at 7:59) sandwiched goals around Courtney Koester's tally at 5:17.

Colgate responded with two of its own, both coming on free-position efforts, from Katie McVeigh and Kelly Winning.

However, Northwestern went on to score four more unanswered goals in the remaining 14 minutes to take a 7-2 lead into halftime. Donna McCann got the run started off a feed from Abby Alley, and then Glassanos netted a free-position goal. Bush then scored both of her goals within three minutes of each other to give the 'Cats the halftime edge.

Lindsey Munday kept the scoring coming for Northwestern in the second half, converting a feed from McMahon just 2:01 into the stanza. Colgate tried to fight back with goals from McVeigh and Becky Ortolano less than a minute apart, but E. Flynn answered Ortolano's goal with one of her own just 1:25 later on the free-position.

Eden Haladay scored for Colgate to make the score 9-5 with 21:21 still to play, but NU shut the Raiders down after that and Glassanos closed out the scoring with 8:44 left in the game.

Ashley Gersuk had eight saves in the game and was particularly effective against Colgate's free-position efforts -- the Raiders were just 2-of-9 from the 8-meter half-moon. NU, meanwhile, took advantage of its charity opportunities, converting 4-of-7 chances.

The Wildcats close out the 2003 regular season Saturday afternoon, taking on No. 11 Syracuse at 1 p.m. ET (noon Central). That game will take place in the Carrier Dome, site of this year's Women's Lacrosse National Championship semifinals and final.
