HOUSTON, Texas - Northwestern fell to 30th-ranked Rice, 6-1, Sunday at the Rice Invitational. Junior Ahmed Wahla (Lahore, Pakistan/Lahore American School) picked up the lone NU point, defeating Vuk Rajevac 6-4, 2-6, 7-6. With its fourth consecutive loss, NU fell to 8-6 overall.
Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) and Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) got a crack at the top-ranked doubles tandem in the nation, the Owls' Richard and William Barker. The Barker brothers earned the win for Rice by an 8-4 margin, running their winning streak to 24 matches.
NU wraps up action at the Rice Invitational on Monday against Louisiana-Lafayette. Match time is set for 9 a.m.
