EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 39 Northwestern rallied from a 3-2 deficit to upend Indiana State, 4-3, Sunday at Combe Tennis Center. Freshman Adam Schaechterle (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine) clinched the match at No. 5 singles, downing Dmytro Ishtuganov 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

NU jumped out to a 1-0 lead after winning the doubles point. Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) and Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) won their third straight match at No. 1 doubles, and Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and Russell Bennett (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) picked up their fourth consecutive win at the No. 3 spot.

Hanus knocked off Vedran Vidovic, the 47th-ranked player in the country and reigning Missouri Valley Conference player of the week, 7-6 (3), 6-3. Perrin notched another win at No. 4 singles, outlasting Ishtuganov 6-3, 1-6, 6-1.

Northwestern improved to 5-1 on the season, while Indiana State, the team that bumped NU out of the 2002 NCAA Tournament, fell to 2-2.

Northwestern returns to the court Feb. 15 against Indiana.
