EVANSTON, Ill. - Three members of the Northwestern women's volleyball program are set to go to Italy as part of the American contingent in an international tournament. NU assistant coach Josh Grau will guide one of two American teams in the prestigious Sibillini tournament. Seniors Kelli Meyer (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) and Sarah Ballog (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita) are part of the teams, made up of players from 11 colleges across the country.

The players will practice as one group, then be divided into two teams upon arriving in Rome on June 27. They will be in the Italian capital for two days, before heading to the Sibillini Mountains for the June 29-July 6 tournament. Tournament matches are played outdoors at night in small Italian villages. The tournament features teams from six countries, made up of current university players. It traditionally attracts a large Italian following.

The Sibillini Mountains lie on the coast of the Adriatic Sea, and Grau, Meyer and Ballog will have the chance to tour the region during breaks in the tournament action.

Grau will co-coach the Team Volleyhut.com entry with Illinois assistant coach Anne Kordes, while Georgia State head coach Richard Leonard will lead Team Third Degree in Italy.

Information on the tournament, including daily updates and results, can be found at www.bringitusa.com or www.volleycentral.com.
