EVANSTON, Ill. - With the help of an extensive direct marketing campaign, Northwestern is trying to draw a larger crowd to Ryan Field on Saturday, Sept. 7, when the football team plays its 2002 home opener against TCU. In an attempt to take advantage of the Chicago Bears playing their 2002 home season in Champaign, as well as compensate for the Northwestern students not being back on campus yet, Northwestern Athletics is hitting Chicagoland with a marketing and advertising blitz.

To make the game affordable for groups, Northwestern is offering blocks of reserved-seat tickets for $19 each (normally $30). Blocks start at a minimum quantity of 20 for corporations and 10 for individuals. With the purchase of a block of 100 or more tickets, the company or individual gets their name displayed on the LED board and an announcement over the public address system during the game.

This year the Opening Weekend Celebration will feature:

*Wildcat Alley starting two hours prior to the game! Wildcat Alley features inflatable games, face painters, clowns, food, drinks, The Crescent City Jazzers and complimentary adult beverages courtesy of Goose Island. It is fun for the whole family.

*A $10,000 "Kick for Cash" - one lucky contestant from the group ticket orders will be called over the public-address system during the first half and have the opportunity to kick a field goal at halftime worth $10,000.

*Plenty of Free parking and shuttle service from campus lots (less than 1 mile from the stadium)

For those individuals who cannot attend, Northwestern is lining up tickets for kids from youth-oriented charities to be sponsored by individuals or corporations! Child ticket sponsorship is a donation and thus tax deductible-consult your tax advisor for tax deductibility of this gift. Charity sponsorship tickets can be donated in any quantity (yes, even one).
