EVANSTON, Ill. - The Chicago area has enjoyed a week's worth of summertime temperatures that the Northwestern men's tennis team hopes will continue through the weekend. The No. 42 Wildcats (12-7, 5-3 Big Ten) host their final home matches of the season at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center Saturday and Sunday.

On the line for the 'Cats is not only a pair of Big Ten matches but the seedings for the Big Ten Tournament, which begins April 25 in Columbus, Ohio. Currently ranked fourth in the conference standings, NU is tied with No. 24 Minnesota for the second-best conference record.

The Ohio State Buckeyes, currently ranked No. 20 in the latest Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings, are one of two Big Ten teams with an undefeated conference record. With a 19-2, 8-0 mark, they sit atop the conference standings.

OSU has won its last 16 matches, 12 of which have been in Columbus, and has three nationally ranked players on the roster.

Penn State, by contrast, is ranked No. 63 and is in the bottom half of the conference standings with an 11-10, 3-5 Big Ten record. The Nittany Lions are on a four-match win streak and have last week's Big Ten Player of the Week, Jamie Gresh.

In the event of inclement weather, the matches will be moved to the Combe Tennis Center. Match time for both Saturday and Sunday is set for noon.
