White Squad Wins Wildcat Intrasquad Scrimmage

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's men's tennis hosted the Purple and White intrasquad scrimmage Friday at the Combe Tennis Center. The White team, comprised of upperclassmen, shined as they won five of the six matches.
Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) and Josh Axler (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman) defeated Tommy Hanus (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) and Adam Schaechterle (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine), 7-6 (4). Russell Bennett (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and Ahmed Wahla (Lahore, Pakistan/Lahore American School) knocked off Chuck Perrin (Atlanta, Ga./The Walker School) and Justin Hoeveler (Ross, Calif./The Branson School), 6-1, to complete the upperclassmen doubles sweep.
Hanus earned the only point for the Purple team, besting Jenkins 8-5 in singles. Axler put away Perrin (8-4), Bennett defeated Schaechterle (9-7) and Wahla knocked off Hoeveler (8-4) to secure the 5-1 win.
Northwestern returns to action Nov. 16-18 at the Big Ten Singles tournament.
