BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - After so many slow starts this season followed by strong second halves, the Northwestern women's soccer team pulled a 180 Sunday at Indiana's Bill Armstrong Field.

The Wildcats scored before the match was a minute old, and led 2-0 after seven minutes. However, this time it was Indiana's turn to put in a strong second half, and the Hoosiers did. They scored twice to level the match, and that's how it ended.

NU is now 3-6-2 overall, 1-4-1 in the Big Ten. Indiana is now 6-3-2, 2-1-2 in conference play.

Senior Aileen Guiney (Naperville, Ill./North) has been Northwestern's setup player most of this season, but she scored her first of 2002 just 41 seconds into the game when her corner kick sailed into the goal. It was the second-fastest goal ever scored by an NU player, beaten only by Katie Hertz's goal vs. Detroit (37 seconds in) during the 2000 season.

Northwestern upped its lead to 2-0 at the 6:35 mark, and this time Guiney was in her more familiar setup role. She sent another corner kick in, and it was pushed into the left side of the goal by sophomore Carolyn Hack (Downers Grove, Ill./North). That lead held up until halftime.

However, Indiana came back strong in the second stanza -- the Hoosiers outshot NU, 9-1 -- and those efforts paid off as they scored two goals less than 13 minutes apart to knot things.

Robin Barker cut NU's lead in half in the 68th minute with her first collegiate goal, as she deflected a shot by Emily Hotz into the Wildcat goal.

The Hoosiers then drew level at the 80:09 mark, as Kristen Zmijewski rebounded a shot from Kara Bryan.

Northwestern outshot Indiana, 3-1, in the 20 minutes of overtime, and forced IU goalkeeper Shaunna Daugherty to make three of her four saves in the match. At the other end, Anne Helm (Newton, Mass./Newton North) had one stop in the OT sessions and four for the match.
