EVANSTON, Ill. - Tito Lara (Joliet, Ill./Joliet) scored two goals Tuesday as Northwestern trounced Wisconsin-Green Bay, 3-0. Brad Napper (Dallas, Texas/Jesuit College Prep) added his first career goal and J.D. Martin (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) earned his sixth shutout as the 'Cats improved to 7-8 on the season.

NU waisted little time getting on the board, as Lara scored the game-winner, his fourth of the year, at the 9:33 mark. He scored again a little more than 20 minutes later.

"It felt good to get some more goals," said Lara, who had not scored since Sept. 13 against La Salle. "We're getting better. The loss to Illinois-Chicago was tough, and we don't want anything like that to happen again."

The Wildcats outshot the Phoenix 9-0 in the first half. They added four more shots on the second half, including Napper's goal off of an Alexander Renzi (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams) cross.

"We played great in the first half," said NU head coach Tim Lenahan. "It was good to get Tito going again, and we just wanted to manage the game in the second half."

Martin earned another shutout, tying the school record. He also improved his goals against average to 1.18 and corralled two second-half saves to keep Wisconsin-Green Bay off the scoreboard.

"Three of the last four games are against Big Ten teams," Martin said. "We need to get some results against conference teams with the Big Ten tournament ahead."

Northwestern upped its nonconference mark to 7-5.

The Wildcats return to action Sunday, Oct. 27 against Michigan. Gametime is set for 2 p.m. at Lakeside Field.
