Men's Swimming and Diving Heads Downtown

EVANSTON, Ill. - This is one road trip that won't have the Northwestern men's swimming and diving team on the road very long, unless there's a delay on the Kennedy Expressway.

The Wildcats (3-1, 1-1 Big Ten) travel to Illinois-Chicago Friday to take on the Flames.

This will be a marathon meet, according to head coach Bob Groseth. The distance events are on the bill, including the 1,650 freestyle. Junior David Hersh (West Milford, N.J./West Milford) holds the current top time for the 'Cats in that event, he posted a 16:04.09 at the NU Invite in November.

A spirited family rivalry will also be part of the meet. NU freshman Louis Torres (Morton Grove, Ill./Niles West) will square off against his older brother, UIC's top swimmer Paul Torres, in the breaststroke events.

The last time the brothers competed against each other was at the NU Relays in October, when Louis defeated his older brother by .02 in a leg of the 300 breast relay as NU pulled out the victory.
