EVANSTON, Ill. - With the start of classes today at Northwestern, Wildcat men's basketball coach Bill Carmody announced the addition of three new players to the program. Thomas Soltau, Davor Duvancic and Vedran Vukusic are all freshmen, and all three will be eligible to play immediately for the Wildcats.
"I am excited about our new additions," said Carmody. "They are all players with good size, and they are able to do things that I think will work within our system. I think they will fit in very well with what we're trying to do here."
Thomas Soltau (F/C, 6-10, 220) comes to Evanston from Roskilde, Denmark. He joined BMS/Herlev's under-21 team last year after several years with Roskilde, and helped BMS/Herlev team win the national championship, Danish Cup, and Lunda-spielan with a 24-1 record. A Nike All-American, he has made 43 appearances with Denmark's junior national team.
Vedran Vukusic (F, 6-8, 215) and Duvancic (F, 6-7, 200) were club teammates in Split, Croatia. Vukusic was also a member of Croatia's junior national team from 1999-2001, and was MVP of the 2001 Croatian Junior All-Star Game. Duvancic, meanwhile, was a Junior All-Star in 1999-2000 and 2000-01.
