KENOSHA, Wis. - Northwestern's second day of two-a-days was not as heavily attended by the media, but the 'Cats put on a show regardless.
"We had another good day out here," said Head Coach Randy Walker. "There are still improvements to be made, but that's what camp is all about."
Coach Walker spent a little more time observing the defense today as he has challenged them heading into this season.
"The defense is getting better and doing well," said Walker. "There is a better energy level from a year ago-more consistent. The defense is still prone to good and bad, but that's what camp is about. We've asked the defense to be more consistent. They have made big, great plays, but it's consistency that wins games. For every boom last year, there was a bust. Consistency eliminates missed assignments, missed tackles. We have the talent, but we need to have the consistency to be among the best in the Big Ten."
The 'Cats have Sunday off and will return to the practice field Monday for a 4 p.m. practice.
