EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern football team had a little bit of everything on Wednesday at Camp Kenosha. The morning session began in full pads in the UW-Parkside indoor facility, then moved outdoors with the end of the rains. That allowed the Wildcats to get in some 11-on-11 work, where the defense stood tall and showed spirited play.
Wednesday evening, the team moved to Carthage College to get in some special-teams work. It was also a chance for the team to get a glimpse of life under the lights, which will be the case Sept. 7 when the Wildcats meet UNLV in the season opener.
"I thought the guys responded well to the day," said head coach Randy Walker. "They took an adverse situation and made it a positive in the morning. The evening session was just a chance to change things up and get in some special-teams work. I'm pleased with the progress so far."
Northwestern will hold just one session Thursday, getting back to UW-Parkside for a 4-6 p.m. session.
