KENOSHA, Wis. - Before practicing in full pads on Tuesday, the Wildcats concluded their fourth day at Camp Kenosha with a spirited and enthusiastic practice Monday afternoon. Northwestern spent its morning in the weight room and then conducted its two-and-a-half hour football workout.
The Wildcats will continue their two-a-day sessions through Thursday and then prepare for a preseason scrimmage at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 25.
Quotes from head coach Randy Walker:
"We changed our practice routine a bit the past couple of days. Mike Singletary came to camp on Sunday morning and gave a very uplifting speech to our squad. In the afternoon we spent a lot of time working on special teams. We hadn't had a chance to focus on that part of the game in the first couple days, so it was good to address that phase of the game.
"We got a quality lift in today and then had a great afternoon practice. We've had some very spirited practices, very enthusiastic. I'm really pleased with the way our kids are handling the preseason so far.
"Tomorrow (Tuesday) we get to put the pads on and that is always an exciting day for players and coaches. We'll really spend a lot of time working on the inside running game."
