Leto Named to NFCA All-Mideast Region First Team

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern freshman Carri Leto was named to softball's National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Mideast Region first team on Wednesday. The second baseman from El Cajon, Calif., played and started in all of the Wildcats' 45 games this season.

Leto was a vessel for the `Cats this season, leading the team in many offensive categories. She topped the team in batting average (.308), at-bats (146), hits (45), runs (23), triples (3), total bases (58), slugging percentage (.397) and steals (15-19). She was also second on the team with seven doubles and third with 19 RBI.

A few of Leto's highlights in her inaugural collegiate season included a hit in the seventh inning to drive in the winning run against Penn State. She also batted in the tying run in the `Cats last game of the season against Iowa, then scored the game-winner.
