EVANSTON, Ill. - The Wildcats are down to one final session for the 2001 spring campaign -- the Spring Game Presented by Ameritech Yellow Pages.
Kickoff is scheduled for noon, with the team scheduled to play four 12-minute quarters of running time. The clock will stop only for penalties and changes of possession. There will be a 10-minute halftime.
Be sure to check out all the other festivities of this exciting day. At 11 a.m., Coach Walker will address fans on the rooftop of The Evans/Buehler Complex at the north end of Ryan Field. The players will then lead "Stretch With The 'Cats" with the first 500 youngsters in attendance at approximately 11:45 a.m.
A field goal contest will take place at halftime, with the chance to win $25,000 at stake. Following the game, coaches and players will be available for a special autograph session. Kids are also invited to have their picture taken with Willie The Wildcat by the Cat Statue at the south end of Ryan Field.
In addition, the always-popular Athletic Department's annual spring sale will take place in the visitor's locker room, near Gate K at the southwest corner of Ryan Field. The public is invited to this sale, which includes all kinds of Northwestern adidas gear including uniforms from past Wildcat teams. The only accepted forms of payment will be cash or check.
In case of inclement weather, the Spring Game will be cancelled -- however, the spring sale will go on as scheduled. Call the Wildcat Sportsline (847-467-6228) or check NUSPORTS.com before you come to Ryan Field if you see rain.
