EVANSTON, Ill. - For the third year in a row, the Northwestern University athletic department will honor the late Ricky Byrdsong by donating 1,000 complimentary men's basketball tickets to the Ricky Byrdsong Foundation. The tickets are for this Saturday, December 8, when the Wildcats host Kansas State at 7 p.m. in Welsh-Ryan Arena.

The Foundation will sell these tickets at $10 apiece, with all the proceeds going directly to the Foundation. Tickets may be purchased individually or in blocks.

Ricky Byrdsong was the head coach of men's basketball at Northwestern from 1993-97. He was tragically killed in a racially motivated incident in the summer of 1999. The Ricky Byrdsong Foundation was established soon afterward to carry on Ricky's work with youth and community service addressing the issues of hate and violence in society, especially among young people. The mission of the Ricky Byrdsong Foundation is to provide opportunities that broaden perspective, build character, and instill a sense of purpose.

To purchase tickets to the Northwestern-Kansas State men's basketball game through the Foundation, contact the Ricky Byrdsong Foundation at 1-877-BRDSONG (273-7664).
