CHICAGO, Ill. - The Northwestern women's soccer team won its fourth straight match via the shutout route Sunday afternoon, traveling down Sheridan Road to defeat Loyola, 3-0. The game was a makeup of their contest that was originally scheduled for Sept. 16, then was moved to Loyola's field due to the fact that the Big Ten Field Hockey Tournament and the Midwest Lacrosse Challenge were also taking place at NU's Lakeside Field this weekend.

NU closes out the regular season with an 8-9-1 record and has its longest win streak since 1998. In addition, the Wildcats have shut out four straight opponents for the first time since they blanked six straight opponents in 1997.

Loyola lost its third in a row and fell to 6-11-1 overall.

Senior Enyo Dzata (Eugene, Ore./South) scored the first goal of the match off a breakaway at the 11:13 mark to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. Janelle Harwood (Brighton, Mass./Brighton) netted the second goal off a rebound in the 19th minute of play to make the score 2-0 going into the second half.

At the 62:44 mark, freshman Ashleigh Garmon (Oxnard, Calif./Buena) posted the final goal, her third tally in the last four matches. Assists were credited to Aileen Guiney (Naperville, Ill./North) and Katie Hertz (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg).

At the other end, Susie McCreery (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) had a pair of saves to collect the shutout.

Northwestern will travel to West Lafayette, Ind., this weekend for the Big Ten Tournament. The Wildcats are the eighth seed and will face the top seed, Penn State, Thursday at 9 a.m. CST. On October 21, the Nittany Lions defeated NU, 1-0, the last time the Wildcats have given up a goal spanning 390:15 of match action.
