EVANSTON, Ill. - Quoting the coaches following Wednesday night's 57-50 win over Florida State...
Florida State Head Coach Steve Robinson
On tonight's play
"There were segments of the game where I thought we did a good job, but credit Northwestern-they made a big shot at the end of the game to really seal the victory. We weren't as consistent as I would have liked."
On turnovers
"You're playing in a game where each possession is magnified, so certainly we can't afford to have a lot of turnovers."
On playing without Delvon Arrington
"Not having Delvon Arrington in the game really hurt us, he runs and conducts the offense for us. We came a little unglued on the offensive end."
Northwestern Head Coach Bill Carmody
On tonight's play
"They played us real hard, which we knew they would do-they're a quick team. Sometimes it wasn't too pretty, but for the most part I think we handled their press pretty well. I've been trying to preach to our guys that we have to make sure we protect this home court. There are a lot of things we have to work on, but we got the win."
On foul shot attempts
"Well, we've got to get someone to teach us to shoot foul shots. Tonight with all the misses, it keeps giving the other team hope. If we could get the foul shots, the game wouldn't have been as close as it was."
Importance of the win
"It was the ACC-Big Ten Challenge, we won and that's important. Two years ago, this team won five games, we've already won four this year."
Compared to last year's team
"We're miles ahead of where we were last year, and to tell you the truth, I don't know if it's really showing up yet. They're familiar with almost everything and now we just have to get better at those things. They need to build confidence and know that they're good players and that they can beat some good teams."
