EVANSTON, Ill. -

No Trip to New York The Northwestern men's swimming and diving team has decided not to make the trip to the U.S. Open in Long Island, N.Y. this weekend. The reasoning lies in that attendance would be down at the event due to the number of quality invitationals across the country this weekend. Next up for the 'Cats is a trip to Hawaii, where they will spend two weeks in training camp for the winter break and hold a meet against an undetermined opponent.

In The National Ranks Northwestern started out the season ranked 20th in the College Swim Coaches Association of America poll but slipped to 22nd in the latest results after falling to No. 15 Wisconsin on the road and taking second to now-No. 21 Purdue at the NU Invite.

'Cats in the Quick 50 Taper and Shave produces a College Quick 50 each week that lists the top times across the country in each event. Northwestern is represented well on this week's list with a total of 20 listings for six swimmers and four relay teams. The top-ranked Wildcat is sophomore Tony Swanson (Coon Rapids, Minn./Coon Rapids), who is fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 1:50.09, which he recorded at the NU Invite on Nov. 17.
