Wildcat Volleyball Nets 3-1 Victory Over Purdue

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern's Kelli Meyer (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) recorded NU's first triple-double of the season as the Wildcats took care of Purdue 3-1 (34-32, 30-26, 28-30, 30-24).
The Wildcats are back at .500 with a 7-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in the Big Ten. Purdue falls to 2-12 overall and 1-6 in the Big Ten.
Meyer had 16 kills, 19 digs, and 10 assists in tonight's match, and was aided by sophomore Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Sandburg), who had 19 kills, and freshman Jill Buschur (New Bremen, Ohio/New Bremen), who had 18 kills. Junior Sarah Ballog (Coto de Caza, Calif./Santa Margarita) had 17 kills and hit at a .412 clip.
Meyer was just two blocks short of a quadruple-double, sending back eight Boilermaker attempts.
NU freshman Drew Robertson had a career-high 58 assists and 16 digs. Junior Molly Kamp recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs.
Maegan Petersen had a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs to lead Purdue. Joanna Lowry led the Boilermakers with 15 kills.
Despite the double-digit statistics, the match was often close and scrappy. Purdue had the lead for most of Game One and forced NU to go to 34 points for the win. In Game Three, the Wildcats dropped a 26-22 lead as Purdue went on an 8-2 run to wrap it up.
By Game Four the 'Cats had regained the momentum, putting the game out of reach early.
Next up for Northwestern is a midweek match at Loyola -Chicago on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. The game is a make-up for one postponed on Sept. 11.
