Evanston, Ill. - Northwestern continued its dominance over intra-state opponent Northern Illinois by defeating them (6-1) for the 26th consecutive time.

NU dropped only one singles match to pick up five points in singles competition. Brad Erickson (Eugene, Ore/South Eugene) playing in the No. 2 spot soundly beat the No. 12 player in Mexico, Juan Barriga, 6-1, 6-3. In the 2-6 positions, no Wildcat surrendered more than three games in a set. Raymond van Wasbeek was NIU's only winner in singles, as he beat Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) in the No. 1 spot (6-4, 6-3).

NU took two out of three in doubles play to gain their sixth point. NIU again won the No. 1 spot (8-6), but NU was able to come back and take command of the last remaining teams. Double teams of Jenkins/Russell Bennett and Ryan Edlefsen/Josh Axler defeated NIU with 8-2 wins.
