SUMMARY:
The Northwestern wrestling team dropped to 0-2 in the Big Ten as they fell to the University of Illinois 40-3 in Champaign, Friday night. Northwestern falls to 3-7 overall, while the Fighting Illini improve to 7-0, 1-0 in league play.
The dual started at 184 pounds and Illinois took control right away as No. 2 Nate Patrick needed just 2:11 to pin Brendan Curran. Illinois would go on to win the next six matches before NU's Jason Erwinski (157) defeated No. 19 Griff Powell, 3-2, putting Northwestern on the board.
Erwinski improves his overall record to 9-3, 7-2 in dual meets, with a 1-1 conference record.
