EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern wrestling team dropped its Big Ten opener to No. 3 Iowa Sunday afternoon by a score of 45-3. Northwestern falls to 3-6 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten, while Iowa improves to 9-1, 1-0.
Northwestern's Will Marcantel and Iowa's Ryan Fulsaas started the match off at 197 lbs., with Fulsaas winning 3-0. Wildcat heavyweight Josh Saul evened the score at 3-3 in the next match, defeating Josh Liddle 10-5.
Iowa would go on to outscore NU 42-0 in the next eight weight classes, cruising to their ninth win.
