EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern field hockey team dropped its season opener to Ball State University by a score of 2-0. Three-year starter Jessica Yates (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest) made nine saves in goal.

Doing the damage for the Cardinals was the duo of Colleen Conway and Shanna Fritz. The pair teamed up for both goals, as Conway scored both times with Fritz supplying the assist.
