EVANSTON, Ill. - Brian Walters, a 1999 Northwestern graduate, advanced to Monday's 200-meter backstroke final to highlight the Wildcats' day at the U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials in Indianapolis.
Walters was in ninth place after Sunday morning's preliminary round, but came back to clock 1:59.99 in the evening session and was fourth overall. As a result, he will swim Monday night for a berth onto the U.S. Olympic Team. The top two finishers in each event qualify.
