EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's tennis team gave Michigan all it could handle Sunday afternoon at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center, but succumbed to the 20th-ranked Wolverines, 4-3.
The doubles point proved to be the difference, as Michigan won two of the three points to gain what ended up being the deciding point. NU got a win at No. 3, as Jackie Jenkins and Russell Bennett defeated UM's Henry Beam and Ran Nano, 8-6.
In singles play, Brad Erickson and Joost Hol were winners in the top two spots, with Hol winning in a third-set tiebreaker. At No. 6, Jamie Sahara was a straight-set winner.
Northwestern will be back in action at home next weekend, hosting Ohio State and Penn State.
