Wildcats Ninth After Second Day Of Big Ten Championships

EVANSTON, Ill. -- The Northwestern men's swimming and diving team is ninth after day two of the Big Ten Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich. The Wildcats have 138 points, one fewer than eighth-place Iowa. Michigan leads the meet with 437 points followed by Penn State (378) and Minnesota (370).

Steve Harms (Maumee, Ohio/St. Francis de Sales) posted the highest individual finish for the second consecutive day, winning the consolation heat (ninth place overall) of the 400-yard IM in a time of 3:55.35. Freshman Kellan O'Connor (Phoenix, Ariz./Brophy), who finished 13th in the 100 butterfly, and junior Steve Steketee (Golden, Colo./Golden), who took 15th in the 200 free, were the other individual placewinners.

The meet concludes tomorrow with prelims beginning at 11 a.m. and the finals starting at 6 p.m.
