EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern University head softball coach Sharon Drysdale announced the signing of three top high school players to National Letters of Intent. Becky Van Bramer (Palatine, Ill./Fremd), Erin Mobley (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill) and Stephanie Elliott (Goleta, Calif./Dos Pueblos) will be in Wildcat uniforms for the 2002 season.

Van Bramer will join former high school teammate Robyn Pettinger on the left side of the infield for the `Cats. Van Bramer hit .398 with a .650 slugging percentage as a junior, and was named a Daily-Herald All-Area selection the past three years.

"Becky's intensity and love of the game is exactly what this program needs to take that step to the next level," said Drysdale.

Mobley will also be reunited with a former teammate, Lauren Schwendimann, when she comes to NU next year. Mobley has earned extensive honors throughout her high school career as she comes from one of the best programs in the country. She was named first team All-State and All-American as a junior, and has received All-League and All-County honors the past three seasons.

"Erin brings with her a combination of speed, power and versatility that will make an immediate impact on both our program and the Big Ten," said Drysdale.

Elliot is a three year starter and earned school and league MVP honors last season. She was also named Santa Barabara Round Table Player of the Year in 2000.

"Stephanie is a power pitcher who has the ability to simply dominate," comments Drysdale. "I look forward to seeing her develop into one of the top pitchers in the conference."
