Women's Volleyball Falls to Indiana, 3-0

EVANSTON, ILL. - The Northwestern volleyball team dropped a match to Indiana Saturday night in Bloomington. The Hoosiers defeated the 'Cats, 15-12, 15-6, 15-7. Northwestern moves to 4-22 (1-15 Big Ten) on the season, while Indiana improves to 15-11 (6-10 Big Ten).
Game one was back and forth early, with neither team able to take control. The Hoosiers finally stepped up and gained control, taking a 11-5 lead. NU picked up some momentum and clawed its way to within one, 13-12. Indiana would answer, siding out on a Nicole Hill kill. Hill then served up the remaining two points.
Indiana controlled games two and three for the win.
Erika Lange (Orland Park, Ill./Carl Sandburg) and Carmen Burbach (Columbus, Neb./Scotus Central Catholic) led the Wildcats with 10 kills apiece. Burbach had a game-high 15 digs, while Lange put up five blocks in the contest.
Melissa Brewer and Nicole Hill each posted 12 kills on the night for the Hoosiers.
Northwestern will close out the home portion of its schedule with matches against Illinois and Purdue. The Illinois match is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 15. NU will entertain the Boilermakers on Friday, Nov. 16. Both matches are slated for 7 p.m.
