EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern women's soccer team lost its last game of the season to Tennessee, in the same fashion as seven of its losses this season, by just one goal.
Eight minutes into the match, UT Shayna Teutsch rebounded a shot deflected by NU keeper Erin Ekeberg (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) to score the first goal of the game.
The Wildcats found themselves tied at 37:12, when Enyo Dzata (Eugene, Ore./Eugene) lofted the ball toward the goal where a Tennessee player mistakenly headed the ball past UT keeper Ellen Dean for an own goal.
UT took the lead in the 72nd minute, scoring on a low shot by Erica LaShomb.
Janelle Harwood (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) tied the game with 9:22 left as she weaved through several UT defenders before uncorking a shot from 20 yards out into the upper right corner of the goal. She was assisted by senior Brooke Bell (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton-Warrenville South).
With overtime approaching, however, freshman Rhian Wilkinson received a pass at the center of the field and pushed it past a couple Wildcat defenders to score with 48 seconds left in regulation to give the Lady Vols the victory.
Ekeberg ended the game with 10 saves, giving her 120 for the season.
