EVANSTON, Ill. - In a game that saw five yellow cards, both Northwestern and Lewis showcased their defense coming to a 105-minute, 0-0 tie.
In a match called after the first overtime due to darkness on Lakeside Field, defense was at a premium. Both teams had only a few scoring chances throughout the game. Wolf Janvier of Lewis led the Flyers with four shots, two of them just missing above the crossbar.
Grant Trimble led the way for NU, shooting three times and missing a late scoring chance in overtime. Trimble took a crossing pass from Paul Van Huysen just inside the box, but his shot went just left of the goal.
The few chances the offenses produced were shut down by excellent goalkeeping. Both goalies brought their 'A' game, stopping any threats the opposition sent their way.
Northwestern's Chris Berlin earned his first shutout of the season, saving five and upping his season total to 78.
Lewis' Andrew Barks, meanwhile, produced his 10th shutout of the season, stopping four NU shots.
