Men's Tennis Golden At Final Day Of Hurricane Invitational

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern completed the final day of the Eighth Annual Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Tulsa, with five singles wins and two doubles wins over Southwest Missouri State in the non-team scored event.
In Flight A singles sophomore Josh Axler (Huntington, N.Y./Walt Whitman), junior Jamie Sahara (Santa Maria, Calif./St. Joseph) and freshman Ryan Edlefsen (Eden Prairie, Minn./Bloomington Jefferson) were all victorious, winning in straight sets. Sophomore Russell Bennett (Wilmette, Ill./New Trier) and freshman Ahmed Wahla (Lahore, Pakistan/Lahore American School) were both winners in Flight B competition.
In doubles action, sophomore Jackie Jenkins (College Park, Ga./Westlake) teamed with Sahara to defeat the Southwest Missouri State duo of Vance and Garbharran, 8-5. Axler and Edlefsen defeated Perry and Streeter of Southwest Missouri State, 8-6.
The 'Cats are back in action Oct. 7-15 at the ITA All-American Championships in Stone Mountain, Georgia. The 'Cats will participate in the pre-qualifying draw to gain eventual entrance into the Main Draw. Senior Brad Erickson, who is currently ranked No. 83 in the country, was selected to participate in the Qualifying draw of the All-Americans.
