Men's Swimming Down After First Day at Ohio State

EVANSTON, Ill. - The Northwestern men's swimming and diving team trails both Ohio State and Kenyon College after the first day of competition in Columbus, Ohio. Ohio State holds a 125-42 advantage while Kenyon, winners of an unprecedented 17-consecutive Division III national championships between 1980-1997, leads NU, 87-77, after day one's nine events.
Junior Steve Steketee (Golden, Colo.) was the lone Northwestern winner on Friday, winning the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:40.40. Junior Todd Capen (Lisle, Ill.) also turned in a strong performance, finishing third in the 200 butterfly (1:52.12) and the 200 IM (1:54.70).
The meet concludes tomorrow at 11 a.m. Central Time in Columbus.
