EVANSTON, Ill. - For the second straight match, the Northwestern University women's soccer team was victimized by a 1-0 score. On Sunday afternoon, the opponent was Minnesota.
The loss put the Wildcats at 2-8 overall and 0-4 in the Big Ten. All four results in the conference have been one-goal decisions, and NU has lost five straight by a single goal.
Minnesota had the better of the play, outshooting Northwestern 17-5 and forcing 'Cat keeper Erin Ekeberg to come up with seven saves while Gopher goalie Dana Larson had just one stop. The lone goal came at the 50:41 mark, when Nicole Lee converted a feed from Alison Rackley. Laurie Seidl was also credited with an assist.
The Wildcats will be back at home next weekend, hosting Iowa Friday at 4 p.m. and Illinois Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be played on Lakeside Field.
