Women's Soccer Ranked 19th in Coaches Poll

EVANSTON, Ill. - With a 4-0-1 record, head coach Marcia McDermott's women's soccer earned a No. 19 ranking in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America poll. The NSCAA placed Northwestern third among teams in the Great Lakes region, behind only Notre Dame and Michigan. The Wildcats open Big Ten play this Friday at 4 p.m. vs. Michigan State followed by a Sunday 1 p.m. matchup against 10th-ranked Michigan. Both matches will be held at Lakeside Field on Northwestern's Evanston campus.

Women's soccer is one of three NU women's sports to emerge into the national spotlight this week. Field hockey is ranked 18th in their coaches poll while volleyball is 27th in the latest AVCA/Sagarin computer poll.
